Sharing Best Practices in Emergency Management

Northeast Region CAER is a mutual aid emergency response association that was formed in 1991. Our members include emergency management professionals, pipeline companies, chemical transporters, and area municipalities. Together, we train, plan and share best practices for emergency response in our 700 km2 area.

Mutual Aid

Northeast Region CAER is activated when mutual aid is requested. Coordinated through Strathcona County 911 dispatch, members are contacted to dispatch available resources. Utilizing a unified command structure, equipment and personnel are brought into the response.

Layers of Response

Each member has a site specific emergency response plan that expands to include working with their local municipal fire department and mutual aid partners through Northeast Region CAER. This includes:

  • Site Response
when response is managed by the site response team
  • Site + Municipality Response
when response is managed by the site response team and their local fire department
  • Mutual Aid Response
when additional resources are requested by the local municipal authority
